Unit 4:Project Design Implementation and Evaluation - Week 2
Week 2
I was asked to narrow down the 4 ideas to the 2 best ones and provide reasoning behind that decision.
Here are the two ideas that I chose to abandon:
Even though I actually like this idea, the problem is that right now I should not be focusing on a project like this, but instead on developing my programming skills, which this game wouldn't require much of. Like I mentioned previously, this project is different from the others ones, in the sense during the development stages I would have to primarily focus on things other than programming aspects, which opposes what I want to do.
Needless to say, the remaining 2 ideas are in my opinion far better than the ones I just talked about for their own different reasons. For instance, in idea 1 I mentioned that the game will have advanced movement mechanics such as vaulting and dashing, while in any of the other ideas these features would not exist. Another example, in idea 3, there will be features like crafting and building, which, again, in the other projects they would not exist.
It seems that I have approached the elimination phase paying close attention to complexity of each project, which I believe it is the best way to go at it.

Here are the two ideas that I chose to abandon:
- Idea 2: Survival / Tower defence alien shooter.
Honestly, apart from me not wanting to do it, I think this project is too cliche, too many people have already done it and I think people are simply tired of it. Also, I think that the concept may be a bit too simple and dry - with not much to do, too repetitive, and not much to play for. You can almost say it would be pointless to play and therefore to create this game.
- Idea 4: 3D Maze Horror
