Unit 4:Project Design Implementation and Evaluation - Week 3
Week 3
Finally, I was asked to pick between the 2 best ideas which one would be the MAIN idea, and also decide on a plan B.
I really liked the idea of the movement mechanics as well as weapon mechanics and I am really looking forward to learn and develop those features, since I believe I will make great use of such skills later on in my game dev journey. Obviously these 2 features wouldn't be developed with the other idea, even though the other project also had 2 unique features. It was simply a matter of which features I want to learn and which features seem the most interesting to me personally. I also believe that there is a lot of versatility with this project in case I get stuck (or not), for example in terms of level design or weapon models/animations, etc.
Overall I do believe this is the most interesting project out of all, the one with the best mix of skill training and the one that has the potential of truly becoming a quality game.
For plan B:
I have decided to adapt the concept of the main idea and make plan B a toned down version of it - this can possibly mean less features, either gun mechanics related or movement mechanics related, less levels, less weapons and animations, etc. Since it is a plan B, it is quite hard to predict what will go wrong with plan A, if anything at all, which means it is very difficult to plan what features I would specifically remove in plan B.
Also, the reason I chose for it to be a concept adaptation is because the time scale for me to develop the game is very short, meaning I would not have time to start over on a totally different project - it is better and smarter to re-use assets from what I would already have done and adapt or change whatever would be needed.
